ocktoberfest – at the Dock!

Friday, October 9th, 4-6pm 
at the Allan Treman State Marina Park
Optional Sunset Cruise from 6-7:30

Join us for this family-friendly event to enjoy some time at the beautiful Treman Marina, and participate in interactive activities that showcase all the things that DCL and some of our partner organizations are doing to create access to and educate people about our (aka your!) lake.  Activities being planned include:

• Marlin Spike (what’s that?!) – Knot tying with DCL Captains!
• Boat-based Bingo
• Paddleboard balancing techniques (on land)
• Squash-stacking
• Creepy, crawly macroinvertabrate sampling
• Water quality testing
• Old Greenie imaginings
• MV Teal Fashion Contest

There will be music by Zingology, food, beverages and a raffle. We hope that you will come prepared to learn and laugh and make a purchase or two to help us raise some funds for all that we do!  

Please show up between 4 and 6pm to enjoy this free event.
For those wishing to go on the Public Sunset Cruise from 6-7:30, please sign up HERE.  Cost is $43 per adult. Children ride for free.

Calling all DCL Sponsors – past, present and future.  This cruise is for you!

We’d like to honor the many local community members and foundations that have helped us since the beginning, and inspire those who would like to help us embrace the future.  DCL’s sponsors have helped us raise money to purchase and repair the Teal, have sponsored our Trout in the Classroom aquariums and our Watershed Internship interns and have been there for us in our times of need. We are deeply grateful for, and dependent on the support of our local community to keep our non-profit operational, our boat(s) a-float and our programs running.  

Please join us to hear from past sponsors and to learn about how you can get involved in the work that we do.  Food and drinks will be offered. Elegant attire encouraged!

The cruise costs $50 per person. Additional donations may be offered when signing up, during the cruise, or at any future time!  We look forward to talking with you. 

The Journey of Water

Sunday, June 14, 2026 (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM) and
Wednesday, July 29, 2026 (9:00 – 12:00 PM)

For the 19th consecutive year, Discover Cayuga Lake is partnering with Community Science Institute to offer two FREE Water Quality Monitoring Cruises as part of their Journey of Water youth education series.

During this 3-hour hands-on program, participants will collect and analyze water samples using professional-grade field equipment while learning about water quality monitoring techniques used by scientists. Participants will also collect plankton samples with a plankton net and examine them under microscopes to observe and identify microscopic aquatic organisms.

These programs are designed primarily for children ages 5–12, though older children are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver at all times.
